Water Based Varnish Over Acrylic Paint

Compared with solvent based varnish, waterborne Varnish on acrylic paint has the following advantages.

(1) Strong transparency and good preservation. It can be stored for a long time on the printed matter coated by it. Under the long-term strong sunlight, the aqueous varnish on the acrylic paint is not easy to yellowing and discoloration.

(2) Good wear resistance. Packaging printing requires strong wear resistance. Measured by 50 pressures per square centimeter, it can generally reach N50 ~ 70 brightness units, while the high-grade bright type can exceed 80, and the non absorbent substrate can reach N90. Especially the cigarette case, in the high-speed operation with the speed of up to 300 packets / min ~ 500 packets / min, the cigarette label has to bear a great mechanical load. Therefore, the printed matter needs not only polishing, but also wear-resistant, and the water-based varnish on acrylic paint can fully meet this requirement.

(3) The conjunctiva is fast. The drying process of Waterborne Varnish on acrylic paint is 30% by evaporation and 70% by material penetration and absorption. It can be completed in a few seconds. When the varnish still contains 20% ~ 30% water, the conjunctiva can be formed. Therefore, it does not need any drying method. If infrared or hot air drying method is used, the drying speed is faster.

(4) Good heat sealing performance. At present, when PP film is widely used as the outer packaging of cigarette packs, the waterborne Varnish on acrylic paint has good heat sealing performance. Even if Celluloid is used, good heat sealing effect can be obtained.

(5) The finished product has good flatness and strong roll resistance. A headache in gravure printing is that the printed matter is continuously dried through several color groups, and the paper sweat rate is very low, which is particularly easy to curl, which can not be used in cigarette boxes. The water-based varnish on acrylic paint is used to polish the soft package. After the product is cut into large sheets, then bronzed and cut, it still maintains good flatness and roll resistance.

This provides a new way for offset printing to gravure printing in the future, especially for cigarette labels that need bronzing to gravure printing. The application of Waterborne Varnish on acrylic paint must be comprehensively considered according to different glazing methods, paper types, product quality requirements and other factors in order to achieve good results.

Waterborne Varnish on acrylic paint

The water-based varnish on acrylic paint can adopt the polishing operations such as offset printing, flexo printing and gravure printing, but the influence of different printing methods on the polishing effect is mainly reflected in the polishing speed and polishing thickness. Generally, the following process flow is adopted: printing → water-based polishing → hot stamping → die cutting.
