Water Based Acrylic Polymer

The main monomer of water-based acrylic acid polymer is alkyl acrylate (CH₂ = ch-cooor); Other monomers, such as acrylic acid and methyl methacrylate (MMA), are generally only used as auxiliary monomers for their adhesive film-forming materials. By changing the type, content and polymerization conditions of specific monomers, other types of acrylic adhesives may be developed. These adhesives can be divided into solution, disperse type or emulsion type and liquid type containing 100% polymer according to the dosage form. Waterborne acrylic resin dispersions or emulsions have many important advantages over their solvent based or other water-based adhesives.

(2) The adhesive with high molecular weight and high solid content has low viscosity at the same time. High molecular weight emulsion polymers have better strength, toughness and solvent resistance than solvent or aqueous solutions.

(4) It has good weather resistance, good water resistance and alkali resistance. Its adhesive and coating are suitable for outdoor application.

(5) It has good adhesion to wood, paper, fabric, alloy, cement, ceramics, plastics and other materials.

(6) Due to its softness and easy alkali tackifying, the film is most suitable for fiber processing and leather processing.

The water-based acrylic polymer does not have further crosslinking in the film-forming process, so it has large relative molecular weight, good light and color retention, water and chemical resistance, fast drying, convenient construction, easy construction recoating and rework, and good whiteness and positioning of aluminum powder when preparing aluminum powder paint. Thermoplastic acrylic resin is widely used in automobile, electrical appliances, machinery, construction and other fields.

Thermosetting acrylic resin refers to the structure with certain functional groups. During paint making, it reacts with the functional groups in the added amino resin, epoxy resin and polyurethane to form a network structure. Generally, the relative molecular weight of thermosetting resin is low. Thermosetting acrylic paint has excellent fullness, gloss, hardness, solvent resistance, weather resistance, no discoloration and yellowing when baking at high temperature. The most important application is to make amino acrylic baking paint with amino resin. At present, it is widely used in automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, steel coils and other products.
